Can the hat be cut vertically? YES
Just like making clothes, there's a human table for 3D cutting and pattern making. Hats also have a human head (🤣) that can be cut vertically so the designer can create the pattern. It's a bit like a wooden head, so you can adjust the stitches - Picture 1. It also comes in different sizes (head circumference 21.5, 22, 22.5, 23). I usually use size 22. I don't know if it's available in Taiwan, but I don't often see people using it. In short, it can make hats less rigid and have only a few patterns. Every time I go to a large hat manufacturer and tell them that we make our own patterns and don't use factory patterns, everyone is surprised! But it's actually not difficult. The principle is the same as making clothes 🙆‍♀️
